      • On my profile he posted a reply

      • Hi Michael,
Please don’t take it personally. I appreciate the welcome. But I don’t understand how you took my attendance at part of one meeting as a commitment to continue with the group. And, note that I did provide some feedback on my reasons for unsubscribing when I replied to the “How Was Your Meetup?” email. Did you not see them? In the end, my decision has more to do with my professional interests which, I’m thinking, probably are not going to include native Android development.

        Apr 11, 2012 6:00 PM
        • I start to post him a reply Greet on his main profile

Dear David, RE ur “Apr 11, 2012 6:00 PM” Greet to me,
*Thx4 replying to my “Apr 11, 2012 5:22 PM” Greet.
*Hv u run a serious tech grp? One attending their 1st mtg is the highest investment in a person, kind of like the 1st day of child’s life. To get beyond that pt,the grp invests in:
          **Getting their profile to std&approving
**Getting them to actually show up(only ~20% do)
          **Manually entering their contacts
          **Introing to everyone
          **Introing them to grp rules

but it is clear it’s not going to all fit and each of our replies will be on the other profiles so it will be hard to read the conversation.
So I create which will solve all this and more (including fully showing the full picture), but of course to reply he will have to (create an account on http://1.JotHere.com http://1.JotHere.com/2741#M1PJMK) which indeed has many additional advantages.
          Under construction.

        • (UNDER CONSTRUCTION)
          Dear David, Thx4 ur reply.

          1. U write quote(I don’t understand how you took my attendance at part of one meeting as a commitment to continue with the group.)
            1. Hv u run a serious tech grp, especially on Meetup?
            2. The 1st meeting that someone attends is generally one of the highest investments the group & especially leaders have made in that person, similar (but not quite as much) as reaching the 1st day of a baby’s life. To get beyond that pt,the grp invests in:
              1. Advertising and finding the person
              2. Interesting & soliciting the person to the point that they join Meetup (if not not there already, it’s not nearly as common as Facebook) and getting them to apply to join the group (a huge hurtle on Meetup, as leaders just take the person’s contacts and make their profile)
              3. Reviewing their app, and until it’s to group standards, messing them back in a friendly way as what s/he needs to fix, waiting for a reply, and repeating this step.
              4. Approving the app with an intro to the group
              5. Getting them to actually RSVP YES to a meeting (only ~1/3rd then RSVP)
              6. Getting them to actually show up (only ~1/2 of those then show)
              7. Creating, printing out, & cutting, & assembling his/her nametag
              8. Manually asking for and collecting their contacts (real name, zipcode, phone, email address, linked with Meetup profile) as Meetup DOESN’T collect-else-reveal this info, even to the group head, but without giving this, members are much less committed & don’t respond (including because Meetup spams them)
              9. Typically at their 1st meeting,
                *introducing them to everyone
*feeding them often for free (1st timers usually don’t pay)
*getting them to bring the needed equipment (as laptop)
*training them on the basic rules & procedures of the group, since they won’t read the online docs first)
*training them on the group topic (as the programming, again since they won’t read the online docs first)
*Getting him/her (in the habit to) post a review and RSVP to the next events
              10. Following up on their starter questions (as misunderstandings clear from his/her review
            3. All of this work we invested into you. Clearly it is not minor. So when someone then quits after all this (actually fairly rare fortunately) and without reason, that investment goes to 0 –very costly.
          2. You write quote(And, note that I did provide some feedback on my reasons for unsubscribing when I replied to the “How Was Your Meetup?” email. Did you not see them?)
*Did you know, “thanks” to Meetup, Everything you contribute to a group vanishes when you are no longer part of the group.”? Yes, Meetup erases the person arguably better than the Mofia: no visible record on Meetup that they were ever a member. Including the places they attended & posted their profile & name is replaced with generic “A former member” and all their reviews are gone.
*It’s sounding like you didn’t know this.
*So I wouldn’t even have your meetup review had I not fortunately made a full copy of it before your quit. And as to your review of the group (which it sounds like you’re talking about), that’s gone. What did you say? Unless you kept a copy, it won’t be visible to you, either.
